Well it appears that Twitter is looking at a redesign to make it a little more familiar for newer users. I honestly don’t mind this. However I wish Twitter would also do something for the power users as well.

Facebook buys Instagram

…wow. Instagram WAS Facebook biggest photo threat.

So I wonder if all the iPhone people who were angry about Android getting Instagram feel about Instagram selling out to Facebook.

Create Google style Circles in Facebook

…well this hack didn’t take long did it…

thisismynext.com

Google+ looks awesome! I like Facebook but I can REALLY see me using this: Circles seems like the next evolution of Facebook Groups and Twitter lists, Huddle is group messaging tied into a social network (unlike current group messaging apps), Sparks is a content discovery and sharing feature, Hangout is the group video chat which NO ONE is doing, and Instant Upload is instant photo cloud storage. It has all the ingredients to make it successful…except no one is using it yet.

True. It just came out and is closed beta. But the real test is going to come when it’s open for the public to use. The question is: will people come from Facebook to use this?

TechCruch is reporting that the first tablet Facebook app is coming not to the iPad but to HP TouchPad…

False TechCruch, the RIM BlackBerry Playbook had the first Facebook tablet app. Nice try though…

You Can't Say Twitter or Facebook in the French Media

…seriously?!? I can’t imagine this happening in the United States. Facebook and Twitter are the common grounds of the world wide web. Networks use them because they know that’s the best place to connect with the people. France is only hurting their own networks because of this…

Facebook Movie Rentals?!?

Word on the web is that Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, Blockbuster, and Hulu are all nervous about a new deal that Facebook struck with Warner Bros about renting movies. I’ve become very accustomed to the Netflix model and I very much enjoy being able to stream movies to my tv (through my Xbox) to my tv. I do not want to sit on the computer on Facebook and attempt to watch a movie.

¿Will Facebook pause chats while I’m watching my movie?

¿Will Facebook maximize the viewing window for the movie? Or will it be a hover over like Facebook has started doing with its pictures?

Now the deal states that if you rent a movie you can watch the movie on that movie’s Facebook fan page. Almost all of my social interacts have already been taken over by Facebook, I don’t want my media interactions to be the same way. It will be sad day when I have to have various subscription services to enjoy movies, and I can see the .market headed in that direction. Hopefully this idea will be a flop and studios will allow their movies to be in various arenas at the sametime. Much like the way they deliver their movies to various movie theatres and I don’t have to only see Warner Bros movies in Muvico theaters and Pixar movies at Sony theatres. Consumers want simplicity. I understand that products need to differentiate, but that shouldn’t come at the cost of the consumer’s ease of use for your product.

It Needs To Stop

If you’re on Facebook then you may have noticed that people are changing their Facebook statuses and putting up these random numbers. Now I may not know exactly why people are putting these statuses up…nor do I care. Here’s what I know however, the statuses need to stop. If you’re trying to send a message to someone, then send a message. Don’t try to be subliminal, just put it out there. Or just send them a message and state your feelings. Facebook people, please stop filling up my timeline with your pointless nummerated babble.

Burnt Toast and Tech for 112410

Good morning…it’s one day before Thanksgiving (in case you didn’t know. I think today is hailed as the largest drinking day of the year…). So before you get sauced and visit your family…let’s get through a few tech stories to talk about while drinking tonight.

 - The Patent Office agrees to let Facebook trademark the word “Face”. Facebook, of course, needs to pa the fee for the trademark…but I’m pretty sure that will happen. The Patent Office is so lame for letting this happen. I mean seriously…the word “face”? #Cmon!

 - Apple is hiring former people at RIM, and more specifically former RIM employees who worked Enterprise Sales. It looks as though Apple is getting ready to make a push to get in the pockets of more suits. Watch out RIM.

 -  If you’re a Kik user on BlackBerry then you might have noticed that your service has stopped working. Here’s RIM’s reason to why (hint: they don’t like Kik anymore…)

 - In Germany, Google gave house owners the option of blurring out their home so it doesn’t appear on Google Maps. Apparently some German Google lovers did not take to kindly to that and egged the blurried houses. Google’s motto may be “Don’t Be Evil”…but that doesn’t apply to it’s customers…

^ This is a shout-out to all the people taking today to prepare and get ready to cook tomorrow. You’re awesome!!! ^
