so i wrote a few days ago (it might have been yesterday) but i always have problems starting my stories or any type of writing. but i may also have a problem with finishing it as well…
just today i was working on a new short story…and i’ve known for a few days what the story was going to be about. i knew the viewpoint and point of view i wanted to have, but as i was writing my storyboard (when i try to put my main ideas on papers before i start writing) i realized i didnt like the ending i had. i liked everything up until i try to finish the story.
so maybe i don’t just have a problem with the first few lines of my story…but also the endings as well.
…do newspapers have user submitted short stories? i know that old school newspapers used to have stories that were submitted by users but what about the newspapers of today?
imagine if you were a struggling author trying to find a break into the buisness and trying to get published. then a newspaper editior contacts you and offers to publish your work. not only would that fill space in the paper with new stories not to be found in other papers but also fufill the need/want of the author.
maybe that could help increase newspapers sales. want to be authors could add that they were published to their resumé.
newspapers need to do something to save their breed. and the 24hr news media knows that the wave of the future is user generated content, being able to add to the discussion or even provide your own questions to add to the comentary adds to the user expirence. i believe newspapers need to catch on to this trend…
I finally signed up for tumblr…not because i was looking for another (micro) blogging platform…but because my regular site (www.fortyoneacres.com) is acting out right now. I tried to update wordpress on my site for the sole purpose of using the new wordpress app with it.
Apparently…it didnt work quite as planned. So my site crashed but luckily I have nerd friends (thanks @sonixfoxx_bcb) who inteligently recovered all of my previous posts. Yes, all of my posts from Janurary 2007 until last month would have been lost if not for his efforts. But my posts are recovered but my site isn’t quite right. So until I get www.fortyoneacres.com back on track, I will be blogging here AND of course you can always find my constant stream of consciousness on twitter.
